Bama Theatre Fall 2016 Film Series

Since 1937, the Bama Theatre has been one of Tuscaloosa’s prime spots for entertainment both through classic film and various other acts. Over the years, the theatre has evolved, bringing with it a weekly film series that showcases independent and foreign films to the people of Tuscaloosa.

The Bama Theatre hosts Foreign Film series

The Bama Theatre is offering the perfect chance to experience a wide array of foreign films over the course of the next two months.  The “5 Foreign Films for $5” series, sponsored by Five restaurant, will commence on October 19 with a showing of “Cinema Paradiso” and will continue with four other films this fall.

Black Jacket Symphony to perform in Tuscaloosa

Rock aficionados who have always wanted to hear songs like “”Hells Bells” and “Shook Me All Night Long” live in concert will finally have the opportunity tomorrow night. The Black Jacket Symphony, a group of professional musicians who attempt to recreate classic albums as closely as possible, will be putting on a performance of AC/DC’s “Back in Black” at the Bama Theatre.

Shakespeare Film Series kicks off at the Bama Theatre

On Sept. 9, the Hudson Strode Program in Renaissance Studies at the University of Alabama launched its annual film series with a screening of Baz Luhrmann’s “William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet.” According to its website, the Strode Program’s film series began in 2014, screening one film a month from September to April at the Bama Theatre in downtown Tuscaloosa.
