Former Alabama head coach Gene Stallings has reportedly suffered a heart attack, according to a report from WBRC’s Rick Karle.

Stallings, who coached the Crimson Tide from 1990-1996, had the serious heart attack on Friday night. Since then, according to Karle, doctors have remained optimistic and hope to “wean the coach from his ventilator.”

Stallings has a history of medical issues this year, suffering two minor strokes in May and August. He coached the Crimson Tide to a national championship in 1992, which was the first title Alabama won since Paul W. Bryant left the program.
