Tide hopes to make comeback against Chattanooga

Alabama women’s basketball (5-1) will be back in action Saturday as it takes on Chattanooga at 2 p.m. The game comes at a pivotal time for the Crimson Tide as it shoots for redemption from last weekend’s game against Wisconsin. The Tide returned to Tuscaloosa with it’s first loss of the season.

Head coach Wendell Hudson said the Tide’s misfortune stemmed from its lack of offense.

“Wisconsin had a really good game plan coming in,” Hudson said. “We had a lot of open shots, especially early, that we didn’t make. They also did a good job of keeping us from making runs. I thought we played hard and didn’t quit playing. We expected the zone defense and thought we made adjustments, but we just couldn’t score.”

The Tide hit its lowest shooting percentage of the season, with 22.7 percent from the court, and finished the game 19 points behind the Badgers.

But the Tide was not completely defeated – it forced 31 turnovers for the Badgers compared to the 15 it committed.

Hudson doesn’t deny the effort of his team and praises their tenacity and dedication game after game.

This weekend, The Tide can either let the loss pave the way for the rest of the season or show what they’ve learned from it.

Chattanooga (6-1) is a fairly experienced team with just four underclassmen of the 12 women on its roster. It also holds some experience facing teams outside of the Southeastern Conference.

The Mocs defeated their neighbors from the Northeast, now No. 14 Tennessee, 80-71 in the early weeks of the season.

In the last faceoff between the two teams, the Tide fell to Chattanooga on the road 62-34.

After Saturday, the Tide will have a weeklong break until it travels to Troy the following weekend.
