Stephanie Gaytan: Together we will roll on

As I am about to begin my fourth and final year here at the Capstone, many positive memories from the past few years begin to fill my mind. From being a part of many different organizations on campus like Capstone Men and Women and SGA Senate, to spending every Saturday in the fall watching the Crimson Tide “roll on to victory,” being a part of The University of Alabama family is something I pride myself on. My passion for service and dedication to bettering the UA campus has led me to gain many unique experiences that are now vital to all of my days here at the Capstone. I know that every student on campus has their own experiences and involvement, and wanting to share, promote and showcase that is primarily the reason I became involved with SGA. Being a part of the SGA community has equipped me with invaluable life skills that have allowed me to work with people from all backgrounds, and to grow and mature personally. As someone who understands that no one’s story is written the same way, I know that we have the power to make a real impact on campus by working together and hearing everyone’s point of view. It is this goal that inspires me and urges me to campaign this year in order to excel as your executive secretary in the upcoming year.

Serving as a part of the Student Government Association, I am well informed of the responsibilities corresponding to fulfilling this important role, and will strive to execute each obligation to the best of my ability, with both positivity and enthusiasm. Each opportunity I have had the privilege to pursue has motivated me to continue to strive to do better and to always adhere to the values and expectations that we have as students at The University of Alabama. My passion for communications, along with my love for the campus community, faculty, staff, and student body at UA inspired me to begin my campaign for executive secretary. If elected, I will continue to always push myself to do better, to serve our student community and to provide all students with ways to enact change and have their voices heard.

Being from out of state, attending a school hundreds of miles from my family, friends and home, seemed like a bold decision to make at first, but after having the past few years filled with nothing but amazing new people and countless fond memories, The University of Alabama now truly feels like home to me. I have found my lifelong friends on this campus, I have traveled to Nicaragua to better communities thanks to UA, but most importantly, I have discovered how much I care about and believe in The University of Alabama. I want to continue to propel our student body forward, making this campus and community the best they can be. Being a part of such a well-rounded student body has pushed me to get involved with tasks outside of my comfort zone, and to always be open to new experiences. The University of Alabama has an incredible place in my heart, and as a member of the student body as well as of SGA, I want to express that I am here to serve you and I am running to hear you. You are what makes this campus great and you are the ones who have the ability to make an impact. I want to use my experiences and the lessons that I have learned in order to cultivate a strong and positive relationship between our student body and Student Government Association because when we work together, there is nothing we can’t accomplish. With that being said, I humbly ask for and appreciate your support as I begin my campaign to become your executive secretary, and look forward to what lies ahead.

Thank you and Roll Tide!
