SGA called for Obama, Congress to compromise

If you were frustrated with Congress and the debt crisis, you weren’t alone. The UA Student Government Association, along with more than 115 other university SGAs, signed a letter regarding the debt crisis dated July 21 to President Obama, Speaker Boehner and leaders Pelosi, Reid and McConnell.

UA Students Receive Research Fellowships

Out of more than 12,000 applicants, three University of Alabama students received graduate research fellowships. Amanda Hanninen, Zack Coppens and Rachel McCarty were among 2,000 students selected nationwide.

In the aftermath of Tuscaloosa’s Apr. 27 tornado, many citizens stayed in their homes to avoid the damage and wait for help. Some students didn’t wait. Among them was Alex Rayfield, a junior majoring in civil engineering.
