ROTC talks wins, losses, prepares for competitions

Combining values of the Capstone Creed and the U.S. Army, members of the University of Alabama Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) are consistently striving for excellence. They have achieved high scores in the classroom, and now they look to do the same at their competitions.  


16 movies shown at Campus Moviefest Finale

The Ferguson Student Center Theatre was filled Thursday night as members of the UA community sat wall-to-wall in order to watch short films created by students for Campus Moviefest. Campus Moviefest, the world’s largest student film festival, is a free moviemaking event.


University Programs to host pumpkin design contest

Put your vegetable carving skills to the test at the pumpkin design contest from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ferguson Plaza for an evening of pumpkins and prizes. Prizes are to be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  Judges will rank pumpkins on the basis of "creativity and originality of design, craftsmanship, precision, and level of difficulty," said Department of University Program's Bonikka Ashley. "Entries will be voted on by members of the UA community," Ashley said.


HBO GO offers free access for campus residence halls

HBO launched a new program giving on-campus residents from a select number of universities a free HBO GO account. The University of Alabama is one of four universities selected for the program, along with Harvard University, the University of Washington and Stony Brook University at New York.
