Fight like hell: Mackenzie Brannan competes for her brother

When Mackenzie Brannan dismounts the uneven bars, she transforms into a blur of crimson, white and sparkles. If you look closely enough, however, a hint of green can now be discerned from Alabama’s traditional colors. Once Brannan lands and thrusts her arms upward, freezing in time for a split second, the source of the contrasting color becomes clear: a lime green ribbon attached to her ponytail.

Alabama gymnastics opens up home schedule with Georgia

 When Alabama gymnastics squares off against Georgia in its first home meet of the season on Friday, it will be the third time that an Alabama team has faced Georgia in the past week. Although they will not be competing for a national championship, the meet will have a similar level of intensity given the passionate and rich history between the two storied programs. 

It's over: Alabama gymnastics falls to Auburn, Streak ends at 117

AUBURN - It took more than 36 years, but it finally happened. The No. 4 Alabama gymnastic team’s 117-meet streak over No. 8 Auburn came to an end Friday night as the Tigers celebrated this 197.275 to 197.250 victory. Alabama head coach Dana Duckworth said immediately after the meet, her and associate head coach Bryan Raschilla took a moment to themselves in the locker room to let it all out.

Gymnastics training smart for two-meet weekend

The No. 4 Alabama (3-3) gymnastics team is over halfway through its regular season. With only five meets on its journey to the SEC Championships, the Crimson Tide will get two out of the way this weekend as it travels to No. 8 Auburn on Friday and returns home to host No. 24 West Virginia on Sunday for Valentine’s Day. Coach Dana Duckworth said the season is flying by, and at the midseason mark, the team is its typical banged up self with little things here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary.

The day after Alabama claimed the 1991 NCAA Gymnastics Championship title as a team, then-sophomore Dana Dobransky was to compete individually for the NCAA balance beam title. Dobransky went through her routine without any hiccups.

Gymnastics hosts 12th annual Power of Pink

The University of Alabama campus slowly but surely started to glow pink this past week. The lights are not only a reminder that the 12th annual Power of Pink gymnastics meet is on Friday against No. 25 Kentucky, but more importantly, they are a reminder of why the Power of Pink was started, why this meet matters more than. Former coach Sarah Patterson, who was with Alabama for 36 years before retiring in July 2014, came up with the Power of Pink idea in 2004.
