5 Seconds of Summer releases newest album Sounds Good Feels GoodBy Katie Goodwin | 10/28/2015 6:16pm
After months of hype and promotion, 5 Seconds of Summer released their second album, "Sounds Good Feels Good." This album, definitely showcases our favorite Aussies more mature sound. Michael, Luke, Calum, and Ashton are fresh off their first world wide headline tour after two years of opening for their best pals, One Direction.
The album kicks off with pop-punk sounding tunes such as “Money” as well as their hit singles “Hey Everybody” and “She’s Kinda Hot”.
The album has a completely different sound than their self titled debut album, that was released just over a year ago. The guys are heavily influenced by bands such as Good Charlotte and Fall Out Boy, you can hear the influence from those bands in their songs "Castaway" and "Fly Away."
A large proportion of the tracks on the album are completely different from any of their previous song. Tracks such as "San Francisco," "Airplanes," "Catch Fire" and "Safety Pin" all are incredibly unique tunes. This new material highlights the band’s vocals, their harmonies and their instrumentals. The biggest element to this album is that it has meaning. They wanted it to speak to their fans who are going though tough times. This can definitely be heard on the song, "Broken Home." This song is especially raw, honest, and one of the best tracks on the album.
5 Seconds of Summer are hosting a fan event for fans from all over the world this weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. You can also catch the boys this summer in Birmingham at the Oak Mountain Amphitheater in Pelham.
