Kaylee Tow hit two home runs and drove in three runs on Sunday afternoon at Bogle Park, but it wasn’t enough for Alabama softball, as it fell to Arkansas 6-3.
Arkansas (33-9, 8-7 SEC) scored a pair of runs off Alabama (26-13, 7-8 SEC) ace Alexis Osorio in the first inning and led for the entire game.
Tow hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to cut the Razorbacks lead to 3-1. The Razorbacks however scored three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to expand its lead to 6-1.
Demi Turner was hit by a pitch to start the Crimson Tide seventh inning with Tow blasting her second home run of the day a batter later to cut the lead to 6-3. Alabama could not cut the lead any more.
Tow, a freshman, now has a team-leading 10 home runs and has driven in 26 runs on the year.
Osorio pitched 5.2 innings for Alabama. She allowed six runs (three earned) on nine hits, struck out five and walked a pair. Madison Preston pitched 0.1 innings and collected a strikeout in relief of Osorio in the sixth.
Alabama will return to action on Wednesday for its final midweek game of the season. It will host Southern Miss with first pitch set for 6 p.m. The game will be televised on SEC Network.
