Nationally recognized artist on display at Sarah Moody Gallery

The Sarah Moody Gallery of Art is hosting an exhibit of work by artist Mel Kendrick called “Woodblocks.” The exhibit will be open until April 12 and is located in 103 Garland Hall.

Mel Kendrick is an American artist known for his wood and concrete structures. According the College of Arts and Sciences website, Kendrick “frequently engages in spatial manipulation so as to channel an equal presence of positive and negative space.”

“Woodblocks” features some large-scale woodblock prints on paper that the artist created during the 1990s.

Kendrick has exhibited his work before at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Madison Park in New York and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. He’s also been awarded the Academy Award for Art and the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships.

The exhibit is open weekdays 9 a.m. –  4:30 p.m. and Thursday evenings 5-8 p.m. Admission is free.
