This weekend the Sidewalk is presenting its annual Sidewalk Scramble starting on today at 6 p.m. at The Abbey in Birmingham. Teams of amateur and professional filmmakers will come together to create short films within a 48-hour time frame. Films will be based on a line of dialogue and prop provided by Sidewalk at the kick-off event on Friday. Contestants will choose between two genres and create a film that is five minutes or less.

Filmmakers are encouraged to participate no matter what level of experience they have. Every completed film will be screened at Sidewalk’s premiere event on Thursday, Mar. 2 at 9 p.m. at The Carver Theatre. Contestants will also be entered to win a cash prize of over $3,000. Prizes include: Best Film Jury Prize, a $1,000 cash prize and automatic admission into the 2017 Sidewalk Film Festival; and Best Film Audience Choice Prize, a $500 cash prize and automatic admission into the 2017 Sidewalk Film Festival.
