Severe weather possible this weekBy Mike Finnegan | 03/05/2017 6:31pm
Parts of Alabama will be experiencing a chance of severe storms this week, according to the National Weather Service. From just a few miles south of Tuscaloosa extending up to the Tennessee state line, Alabama will be under threat on Tuesday and Wednesday.
While the northern portion of the state is under a slight risk, the area from just south of Tuscaloosa to Montgomery is under a marginal risk. South of Montgomery to the Washington county may experience thunderstorms. There is no severe weather threat for Mobile and the southern-most counties.
Slight severe storms entail scattered storms throughout the region that have the potential for winds up to 60 mph, large hail and tornadoes.
The Tuesday and Wednesday storms are forecasted as two separate storm systems. As of the predictions on Feb. 5, the storms on Wednesday may have less atmospheric energy, and will likely not be as strong as those on Tuesday.
