A University of Alabama student has been arrested for the alleged rape of another student early Saturday morning. A second rape was reported around the same time and is still under investigation, according to the Tuscaloosa News.
Luke DuBose, UA student, 19 has been charged with first-degree rape. DuBose allegedly raped a 19-year-old student at her residence on Frank Thomas Avenue, according to Capt. Gary Hood, commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit.
The Tuscaloosa News reports that the student returned home from a bar around 12:30 a.m. and awoke to a man in her bed making sexual advances. A roommate called 911 just before 3 a.m.
"Initially the victim thought it was a friend that she has had sexual relations with recently, and told him to stop several times," Hood told the Tuscaloosa News. "However, the suspect would not stop, and when the victim then saw the suspect and realized it was another acquaintance of hers, she pushed the suspect away and yelled."
Hood said DuBose left the residence, but returned while police officers were there. It was then that he was arrested.
The second rape was reported at around 4:20 a.m. when investigators were called to DCH Regional Medical Center, according to the Tuscaloosa News.
Hood told reporters that an 18-year-old student had come home with friends, intoxicated from a party, and was getting ready to go to sleep on her couch. It was then that a male subject, 20, who was lying on the floor, began giving her a foot massage. He then allegedly forced himself on her.
Hood said the man denies having sexual intercourse with the student and that the case is pending investigation.
