Les Miles, head football coach at Louisiana State University, was fired on Sunday, four games into his 12th season with LSU. Ed Orgeron will act as interim coach for the rest of the season.

Cam Cameron, offensive coordinator, was also terminated.

According to Miles’ contract, he is due a buyout of approximately $10 million. As for Cameron, he is due just over $2 million.

Athletic Director Joe Alleva said in a statement that the decisions were not easy, especially since Miles has done a “tremendous job at LSU.”

“It’s apparent in evaluating the program through the first month of the season that a change has to be made,” Alleva said. “Our commitment to excellence and competing at the highest level is unwavering, and our goals for the remainder of this season haven’t changed. We have an obligation to our student-athletes to put them in the best position to have success on the football field each week and we have great confidence that Coach Orgeron will do just that.”

The changes were made just one day after the Tigers’ 18-13 loss at Auburn, bringing LSU’s season record to 2-2.

LSU will hold a press conference on Monday afternoon to discuss the situation.
