Who: The Culverhouse Communication Excellence Commons (CCEC), a group that typically assists students in resume reviews, presentation preparation, interview prep and other business related services, has teamed up with detergent producer Tide to help the victim of the Baton Rouge floods.

What: A fundraiser asking for donations of canned foods, clothing, detergents, toothbrushes and toiletries. When the flooding began on Aug. 12, many residents of southern Louisiana had to flee their communities for higher ground, and many are now left with nothing.

When: Donations will be take anytime from now until next Wednesday, Sept. 8 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Thursday, but on Friday, the group will wrap-up at 1 p.m.

Where: Individuals or groups looking to participate can take supplies to Room 233 in Bidgood Hall, the home of CCEC.

According to the Red Cross, the Baton Rouge floods are the worst natural disaster since Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Thirteen people have been declared dead, and over 146,000 homes have been reported damaged as a result.

The CCEC is holding the fundraiser to aid people affected by the flooding in Baton Rouge and to show SEC solidarity through this disaster. By providing people affected by the recent floods in Baton Rouge with much-needed supplies, the CCEC hopes to prove that rivalries on the football field pail in comparison to the common bond of humanity shared by the two Deep-South schools.
