Rowing completes second race of the semester

Alabama’s rowing team placed both its boats in the top 20 in the Head of the Charles Regatta. The Crimson Tide finished in sixth place and in 20th place out of 38 boats.

The Tide was unable to earn automatic qualifying times for next year’s regatta, but coach Larry Davis was pleased with the team’s performance.

“We didn’t qualify both boats for next year’s event but we were only about one place and a few second shy with our second boat,” said Davis. “Both crews rowed the race plan very well and I couldn’t be more pleased. It was one of the best ways we’ve handled adverse conditions. The coxswains did a good job navigating a winding course against some tough weather conditions.”

The Head of the Charles was the second of three regattas for the Crimson Tide in its fall season. The team has two weeks off before wrapping up the fall season in the Head of the Hooch Regatta Nov. 7 and 8.
