Doubles team wins Southern Regional

Two-time doubles national champion, Erin Routliffe, was without her usual partner at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships. Senior Maya Jansen is missing the fall season with a torn hip labrum and is expected back once the spring season begins. In the meantime, freshman Andie Daniell has played with Routliffe, and today the two captured the Southern Regional doubles title.

Routliffe and Daniell faced LSU’s Abby Owens and Skylar Kuykendall on Monday morning for the championship. Alabama’s duo won in straight sets 6-4, 7-5. They had to make their way through a bracket of 32 teams.

Because of the win, Routliffe and Daniell now have the opportunity to go to Flushing, New York where they earned an automatic entry to the 2015 USTA/ITA National Collegiate Indoor Championships at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center Nov. 12-15.
