Women's golf wins Mason Rudolph Championship

After falling back to second place on Saturday, the Alabama women’s golf team battled back to win the first tournament of the year at the Mason Rudolph Championship. Alabama finished the back nine well to just outplay Northwestern by one stroke with a 16-under par 848.

Sophomore Lakareber Abe lead the team as she posted 12-under par to win her first ever tournament individually. Abe just edged out Virginia’s Lauren Coughlin by one stroke. She was the only player on the course to shoot in the 60’s each day with a 67, 68 and 69.

Senior Janie Jackson and freshman Cheyenne Knight were also top performers for Alabama. Both players were in a large group that tied for seventh overall in the tournament at 2-under par.

Alabama will be back in action next weekend for the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational.
