University announces national championship ticket allotment

The University of Alabama received an allotment of 20,000 tickets to the national championship game in Arlington, Texas, should the team advance from the Sugar Bowl playoff game, according to an email sent to students Wednesday. Of those 20,000 tickets, 2,400 would go to students for a cost of $450 each, though 500 randomly selected students would receive a free ticket through a joint promotion by Taco Bell and ESPN.

A representative of the Tide Pride Ticket Office said the amount of hours required to receive a ticket to the national championship was not available at this time.

Students who were allotted a ticket will have until 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, to make a purchase. Students who purchase a ticket will not be charged the cost of the ticket until the day after the qualifying playoff game.

Classes are scheduled to resume at The University of Alabama on Wednesday, Jan. 7. Should Alabama advance from the Sugar Bowl, the Crimson Tide would play in the championship game on Monday, Jan. 12. As of Wednesday, Dec. 31, the University has no plans to cancel any classes on the days surrounding the national championship, UA spokesperson Cathy Andreen said.
