Greek Week winners announced

Members of the greek community teamed up last week to raise nearly $100,000 for non profit organizations around the city of Tuscaloosa, said Brandi Morrison, vice president of administration for the Alabama Panhellenic Association.

APA, Interfraternity Council, United Greek Council and National Pan-Hellenic Council paired up and participated in competitions, including dodgeball, bowling and a dance competition, throughout the week.

Fraternities and sororities were also responsible for completing service hours for tornado relief in the city. Together, the groups logged in 4,000 community service hours with the Tuscaloosa Area Volunteer Reception Center.

β€œI was really proud of the initiative that all three houses showed,” said Abby Grace Brown, Greek Week director for Alpha Chi Omega. β€œIt was really a collaborative team effort. There was a great spirit around our house and excitement to compete with other houses. All that drive and excitement ended up paying off in the end.”

Brown said time spent at the house preparing for events and painting banners was a great time for members of the different houses to get to know each other and come together as a team.
