Amendment 1 passes; Sessions holds seats in Senate

In the Alabama general election, voters said yes to Amendment 1, which proposed to reestablish the Education Trust Fund Rainy Day Account within the Alabama Trust Fund as well as to establish the General Fund Rainy Day Account within the Alabama Trust Fund.


Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Jeff Sessions defeated Vivian Figures (D) receiving 83 percent of the votes, while Robert Aderholt (R) defeated Nicholas Sparks (D) for the house representative for district four.


In the Tuscaloosa County general election, Don Wallace (R), was elected county commissioner of district one with 73 percent of the votes. Gary Youngblood (R) was elected commissioner of district 2 with 58 percent of the votes.


District three elected Bobby Miller (D) with 66 percent of the votes and Reginald Murray (D) was elected in district four with 61 percent of the votes.
